Student Opportunities

The Office of Nuclear Energy’s University Nuclear Leadership Program (UNLP) supports students studying in nuclear energy related fields to maintain nuclear science and engineering expertise and grow the next-generation nuclear energy workforce

Scholarships

Scholarships are offered to undergraduate students attending two- and four-year institutions including community colleges and trade schools. This funding opportunity is a one-year award, and students may apply each year of their undergraduate studies. 

Fellowships

Fellowships are three- year awards that are offered to first- and second-year graduate students.

Innovations in Nuclear Energy Research & Development Student Competition

This competition recognizes students who have published in peer review journals and conference proceedings. Awardees receive an honorarium and have the opportunity to present their work to the broader nuclear community.

UNLP Approved Institutions

Institutions interested in administering a scholarship or fellowship as a UNLP-approved college, university, or trade school must submit an application in response to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Funding Opportunity Announcement DE-FOA-0002265.
