Request for Information for CINR R&D and CINR Infrastructure

The focus of this Request for Information (RFI) is to obtain input to and identify potential new research areas for future Notice of Funding Opportunities in areas that support the Office of Nuclear Energy’s mission.

Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research

DOE is seeking ideas, input, comments, feedback and recommendations from interested parties for future competitive university-led research projects. This input may lead to a more robust R&D program that reflects communities’ ideas and could identify new creative, innovative, and transformative outcomes. DOE is also receiving input regarding the structure of the solicitation itself, including any examples of other solicitations that have been successfully used for competitive university research.

Scientific Infrastructure Support for CINR

DOE is also seeking information, comments, feedback, and recommendations from interested parties to determine what capabilities supporting research, training, and technology demonstrations are of highest interest to the nuclear energy research community.

DOE is accepting input on other high-priority nuclear energy-related infrastructure needs including information on the potential benefit, location, funding model, and feasibility of establishing, maintaining, and operating such facilities.
